LAGOS—Two members of All Progressive Congress, APC, in Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos State have been arrested in connection with the murder of the party’s Assistant Treasurer, Shalewa Daramola, last week in Festac, Lagos.
The suspects are, the party leader in Amuwo Odofin, Alhaji Waheed Adewunni and the Youth Leader, Mallam Abubarkar Mai. As at yesterday, the duo were still being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba. Police sources revealed that when the deceased’s telephone was checked, it was discovered that the party’s chairman was his last caller. He was said to have sent a text message to late Daramola, informing him to come to the party’s secretariat located at ’K’ close, 3rd Avenue, to collect chicken and rice for the celebration of the just concluding Sallah. Daramola was said to have gone to the secretariat in company of Mai. He reportedly told Mai that he suspected that someone was tampering with his car and went to check, only for a stranger to accost him, demanding for money. Before he could reply, the stranger reportedly shot him four times. The gunman was said to have turned to Mai, demanded for money, but later left to join his partner, who was waiting on a motorcycle outside the gate.Vanguard
