.KOGI GOV: Okun youths drum support for Audu
By Chris Ochayi
ABUJA—Ahead of the November 21, 2015 governorship election in Kogi State, a pressure group, the Okun Youth Conscience Mandate, OYCM, from Kogi West Senatorial district has endorsed the aspiration of the All Progressives Congress, APC, leader in the state, ex-Governor Abubakar Audu to fly the party’s ticket.
The coordinator of OYCM, Mr.Samuel Oriyomi, who led the members of the group on a solidarity visit to Prince Audu in Abuja, called on Kogi people to put aside sentiment and present the ex-governor as a solution to battered economy, unemployment and the decaying infrastructure confronting the state. Speaking with journalists, Mr. Oriyomi, however, advised the people of Kogi West and Central senatorial districts to discountenance recent purported outing of few self-serving and political opportunists clamouring for division of the state along ethnic and senatorial lines. He noted that the move by some politicians hiding under the West and Central Forum for Equity and Justice aimed at fielding a single governorship candidate of the two senatorial districts to confront an Igala candidate from Kogi East senatorial district negates the principle of democracy. The coordinator reasoned that although Igala dominated Kogi East senatorial district has produced successive governors of the state since its creation but it doesn’t require any gangsterism to resolve power sharing and rotation in the state.Vanguard
