SPECIAL Assistant on News Media to the Delta State Governor, Mr Michael Tidi, has said that those perceiving Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as running a government of ethnic agenda were raising false alarm.
Tidi in a chat with Vanguard in Warri, yesterday, said that those involved in the campaign against Okowa were politicians uncomfortable with the governor’s determination to reposition the state for rapid development through good governance. “Okowa’s insistence on accountability, prudence, reforms and restructuring has won his young government many enemies who are used to benefitting from government at the detriment of the masses. “The governor’s S.M.A.R.T. agenda is gaining grounds. Those claiming there is an Ika or Anioma agenda make discerning Deltans laugh. How many Ikas has the governor given appointments? Ikas make up only a handful of his political appointments,” he said. Describing the governor as one of the most detribalised Deltans, Tidi recalled that Okowa came to power on “the deepest pan-Deltan platform,” adding that what his administration deserves was the support of all Deltans and not a campaign of calumny.
